Build a bear

While we were on holidays on the Gold Coast we took the kids to Build-A-Bear workshop store. The kids had a ball choosing a bear , stuffing it and then picking clothes for it. It turned out to be a very expensive trip lol. We HAD to buy clothes , shoes, pjs, underwear & mobile phones for each bear. You could buy just about anything for them. They are just so cute though and are carried around all the time so worth every cent.

Wool Technique Class

Yesterday i took a wool technique class at The Home Patch. We worked with woven felted wool and its just lovely. I m off to buy some more beads to finish it off today, I'm planning on it becoming a pin cushion. I think i will try and make a couple more and make them into glasses cases for Christmas presents . Michelle (our teacher) warned us that it could become addictive and she sure is right.

Surfers Paradise 2009

Oh what a wonderful holiday we have had, the Gold Coast certainly has a lot to offer families. We went to Dreamworld, Sea World and Australia Zoo. I think sea world was definitely the favourite. The kids all got a bear from Build a bear workshop , a great shop . We spent a small fortune there making and dressing bears...So Cute. We went to the footy and watched Tigers v Titans, loved the atmosphere at footy games. Skilled Park is a great venue and titans have a great crowd.
Spent plenty of time at the beach and swimming pool at our resort we stayed at Crown Towers, its an awesome spot . One block to the beach, a couple of blocks to Cavill Avenue right in the heart. We have all enjoyed sitting on our veranda and watching the Bungee Jumping across the road.
So today we make our last week along the beach and last swim in the pool then we make the bittersweet drive back to home. But we will be back ........

Coopers Shaggy Quilt

I stayed up late on Friday Night to get this quilt finished before we go on holidays :) i was even still snipping the edges at his birthday party. The material is winter parade and such nice "boy" colours

Baileys Quilt!!!!

Much to Baileys delight i recently finished his d9p ( disappearing nine patch). It is my first real big quilt and definitely my first binding. I'm pretty happy with it. It started out as a single bed quilt but he now has a queen size bed so its now a throw on his bed.

Twilight / New Moon

When i first heard about these books i wasn't interested at all... Vampires are definitely not my thing. But i gave in and brought "Twilight" and actually liked it. It will never be one that was on top of my list but definitely enjoyable. Now i am reading "New Moon" and i think i like it more than "Twilight" so far. They do take me back to my high school days !!!!!

Dresden Plate and Pie and Tarts quilt!!!

So i decided that i would make my Dresden plate into a cushion cover so here it is attached to the background fabric and with the papers removed.

I really love English paper piecing its so relaxing , i love it so much that i have signed up to the pies and tarts block of the month. I'm sure it will take me a long long time. The pictures show the pie and tart pieces i have already made ( not many lol) i chose "Retro" fabric and some of them are so pretty. Maybe next time i post i can them actually sewn together as pies.

Round Robin

Here are sneak peaks at the latest 2 round robin blocks... such lovely fabrics. Unfortunately the last block i had sent back got lost in the mail and i hadn't taken a photo. So this month i made sure i took pics and am now going to send anything registered

Family Gathering- Block 1

Because i cant help but have a few different things on the go i started the quilt "A Family Gathering" By Anni Downs. Its a lot of fun, all the applique is blanket stitched by hand which i like to do while I'm watching TV..... this is the first of many blocks (it might take me a while lol)

WIP-Baileys d9p

This is my first "BIG" quilt , well its the biggest i have done.... the pattern is just a disappearing nine patch add a couple of borders and there you have it.
Very frustrating manoeuvring the big lump of a thing around the machine but I'm enjoying it none the less.

Charli's Quilt!!!

Well it was Charli's birthday way back i April and i made her a shaggy quilt but forgot to blog it and didn't take any pictures. So i borrowed this picture from my sis(Thanks). I love this fabric range "Heart to Heart" so pretty and colourful

Books!!!!

Just finished Shattered by Gabrielle Lord...... i have no idea what to start next maybe one of the 15 books in my pile waiting to be read lol. Or i could wait for the order i put in from the book depository to come because i "had" to have them

Paper Piecing

I did a paper piecing workshop on Saturday, it was just so relaxing .

The hexagons i had done in class a few weeks before, so i decided this time to do a Dresden plate.

For the Dresden plate I think i will finish it off with a cream centre on a cream background and then maybe make them cushions for our lounge. First to sew them all together

I'm not sure what i will do with the hexagons, just keep adding more and more

The Help

This book is great, i haven't liked a book this much in a long while. Highly Recommended
